    About the 2014 - 2018 Campaign

In 2014, as the It Starts With Our Schools campaign was coming to a close, we couldn’t dream of stopping what we had started. The wheels began turning for a new campaign, and soon Strong Schools. Strong Community. was in full motion.

The Decatur City Schools and School Board announced aggressive goals through their strategic plan in 2013. In support of this effort, this campaign (2014-2018) focuses on continued student achievement, classroom technology, career tech, and accountability. Achieving our goals requires raising $1 million by 2019.

Funding from this campaign will expand successful programs already in place, such as the Innovation Program, to the middle schools and high schools. It will help to provide seamless integration of technology into our classrooms by providing teacher training and pilot programs to drive innovation. We will continue career tech opportunities to help prepare students for local STEM careers. We will also commit to measuring results through our continued partnership with the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA).

We believe that every student deserves a chance to succeed. We enthusiastically continue to build on what we have started, seeking to cement a culture of innovation in our schools that takes us to a new level of education.
