The Million Word Challenge encourages our elementary through middle school students to read 1 Million Words during the school year. Students who reach this goal are awarded a Million Word Challenge t-shirt. If a 3rd through 8th grade student exceeds the 1 Million Word Challenge and reaches 2 or 3 Million Words, they will also receive a gift card to celebrate their achievement milestone(s). 

The number of words read per student is calculated by utilizing their Accelerated Reader (AR) tests. Students have to score an 80% or more on an AR test for the words to be counted.
